About the Boulder Super Nanny

"To say Rebecca was a lifesaver for our family would be an understatement. She truly was our saving grace during one of the busiest and most overwhelming seasons of our lives."

I earned my Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Studies with a concentration in Infancy and Preschool from Auburn University and went straight into professional early childhood education. Since 2015 I've worked across every age band from newborn through pre-K: as a young toddler teacher, an infant teacher, a lead teacher, and most recently as Infant Nursery Supervisor at the Primrose School of Longmont, where I ran daily operations for the infant program and supervised and trained the assistant teachers under me.

Between those roles I worked as a private nanny for two Colorado families, in Frederick and in Longmont. I know how to build a real developmental program, and I know how to do it inside somebody's home, alongside their laundry and their dog and their nap schedule.

I'm looking for the arrangement that lets me do my best work — a small, stable group of children I can genuinely know, with two families who want a professional partner in caring for their children.

Beyond the resumé

I've fostered and volunteered with more than ten animal rescues across Colorado, Texas and Alabama — Longmont Humane Society, Luvin Arms Farm Animal Sanctuary, Rocky Mountain House Rabbit Rescue and others. If your household comes with dogs, cats, rabbits or a three-legged foster, we will get along fine.

What families say

  • To say Rebecca was a lifesaver for our family would be an understatement. She truly was our saving grace during one of the busiest and most overwhelming seasons of our lives. I am a mom of two children who are only 16 months apart, the CEO of a company, and my husband also works full time. When Rebecca joined our family, I was still early postpartum, breastfeeding, and working partly from home. She stepped right into our chaos and somehow made everything feel more manageable.

What always stood out to me was how thoughtful and attentive she was, not only to our babies, but to our needs as parents. While I was breastfeeding, she would always check in about feeding schedules and make sure they worked for both me and the baby. She listens, and I mean really listens, to your concerns, preferences, and instincts as a parent and then follows through.

I trusted Rebecca completely with our two most precious gifts. She brought stability, dependability, and a sense of calm into our very busy household while fitting seamlessly into our family. Even now that our children are older, she is still someone we turn to and trust for date nights and additional help.

Finding someone you genuinely trust with your children is incredibly difficult, and Rebecca was that person for us. I cannot recommend her highly enough. Any family would be incredibly fortunate to have her caring for their children.

    The Allard Family
  • We met Rebecca when she worked at the daycare where we started our children and she was the Infant Nursery Supervisor. We found Rebecca's expertise especially useful when our daughter was having trouble taking a bottle there at first. Rebecca had helped other families through this issue, so she helped narrow it down to the bottle our daughter took the best. She also bonded with our daughter, which made it easier.

When Rebecca left the daycare, we made sure to get her phone number and she has become an important resource for our family when we need childcare. Our son has lots to say and Rebecca is always genuinely interested in listening to him as he shares his thoughts. And our daughter, who is now a toddler, still runs to give Rebecca a big hug whenever she sees her.

It's very clear that Rebecca is a natural at this kind of work. Her compassion and her expertise make her a wonderful presence in any household with small children. We could not recommend her more highly.

How it works

Care happens in one family's home. That family provides the space and the utilities, tells their homeowner's insurance carrier, avoids a commute, and accepts a couple extra sets of small shoes by the door. The other family drops off and picks up.

Legally, I will be a household employee of each family, separately. This is accomplished through a third-party payroll service. I use Boulder-based Poppins Payroll. They currently charge each family $49 per month and handle all payroll, taxes, and government filings. All that's required of the families is to apply for a federal Employer Identification Number (EIN) at IRS.gov, set up with Poppins Payroll and link a bank account, sign written agreements, bind workers' compensation, and confirm homeowner's insurance coverage. Then just approve the hours each pay period.

Because each family is a separate employer, each family independently claims the full $5,000 Dependent Care FSA and the full Child and Dependent Care Tax Credit. You don't split them. For most households in this bracket that recovers $1,500–$2,300 of the cost per family, per year — more than covering the payroll service several times over.

How that compares

This costs more than daycare, and it should. One adult for no more than four children, in a house, run by someone with a degree in the field.
